Some wedding days are simply overflowing with joy, and Lauren and Colton’s June wedding in Rochester, Minnesota was one of them. Set against the timeless stone architecture of the Mayowood Stone Barn and beneath the beautiful oak tree where they exchanged vows, their wedding was the kind of celebration that reminds you what a wedding day is truly about. From the moment the day began, every part of the celebration reflected who they are as a couple: joyful, intentional, and deeply loved by the people surrounding them. I mean look at the photos—the joy literally shines through the screen.
Lauren looked absolutely stunning in her timeless ball gown, a classic look that perfectly complemented the elegance of the venue perfectly. The stone interior of the reception hall was the perfect backdrop for their adorable choreographed first dance. It was literally like a movie. As the sun began to set, we captured some of my favorite portraits of the entire day. The ambiance of golden hour fit their joyful “just married” portraits so well as they had their first moments of husband and wife.
One of the things that stood out most, though, was how intentionally Lauren and Colton centered their marriage on the Lord. From praying together to sharing quiet moments with one another, every part of the day reflected a foundation of faith. Their joy wasn’t simply the excitement of a wedding day—it was the deep, lasting joy that comes from knowing Christ. Their wedding party celebrated them with unmatched enthusiasm, surrounding them with encouragement, and genuine excitement as they stepped into the covenant of marriage together, and also as the wedding party commits to encouraging them in their marriage.
